Did you know there's a science experiment out there about yawns? Me either. I found it just now, when I googled "world record yawns" after yawning apprx. eight gabillion times in the past couple of minutes. I would google "yawning too much" but I'm sure there's something out there about how it's a sign of a horrible disease or something.

Anyway, before I get to the links, let's talk about tv! What's your favorite *new* tv show? Mine is Reaper--what's not to love about a show where the main character has to be the devil's bounty hunter because his parents sold his soul? (And, total bonus--the devil is Laura Palmer's dad!)

Tell me all about your favorite new show by commenting here, or by sending me an email (elizabeth at elizabethwrites dot com) Replies must be in by midnight EST on Friday, October 19th, and then I'll draw four names at random and send each of those four people a book! Though you can only reply once, you can reply no matter where you live (I will ship books overseas), or if you've won something from me in the past.

Books I'll be giving away are: Platinum by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, The Faerie Path by Frewin Jones, Blacklisted by Gena Showalter, and Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith.

A UK author blogs about why it's more fun to discuss books with teens than with adults (side note: why don't American candies have names like Chupa Chup?)

Last week I linked to a couple of posts by Kate Elliott about writing. She's expanded it into an article, and although it's still titled advice for first-time sff novelists, I think everyone who writes--or wants to--should read it. Fanstastic, thoughtful insights on both writing and publishing.

You'd think getting page proofs would be exciting, but it hasn't been my experience at all. I'm going through page proofs now, in fact, and I'll tell you--when I first looked at them, I wanted to SOB IN TERROR. Elizabeth Bear's reaction (and the comments on it) has made me feel like less of a freak.

Finally, observations on the Frankfurt Book Fair

I'm really enjoying the new season of Heroes, but that's not a new show. So my favorite new show would have to be...wow, that's hard...hmm...Either Gossip Girl or Pushing Daisies. Both great!

Gossip Girl is a guilty pleasure, but it's not my favorite; I think that would have to be either Reaper or Pushing Daisies. My DVR is full of shows I haven't had a chance to watch yet though, so who knows, maybe one of those other not-yet-watched shows will turn out to be my favorite.

Btw, my email is ktchpgrl@ufl.edu.
