All the bubble suit comments? They've made my husband's year, I swear. He's been sending me links non-stop. Current favorite:

which he says I should get and wear in the car as I head to LA.

I think I could actually *hear* him laughing in the email he sent about that one.

I am half tempted to buy one and wear it to the next work party we have to go to. If nothing else, it would be a VERY memorable look. Heh.

Anyway! I am leaving for LA next week--I'll be at BEA, and if you're going, please come by and see me--my signing schedule is here

Also! Is there anything along the way and/or in LA that I *have* to see, or that you've always wanted to see?

I'll take comments about things on the way/in LA that I should see through midnight EST tomorrow, May 16th, and then I'll draw four names at random and each of those four people will get a free book! Though you can only reply once, you can reply no matter where you live (I will ship books overseas), or if you've won something from me in the past.

Books I'll be giving away are: She's So Money by Cherry Cheva, Devilish by Maureen Johnson, Theodora Twist by Melissa Senate, and Wake by Lisa McMann.

I also have some links to share:

Fifty Ways to Get Yourself Writing -- Loads of interesting suggestions here.

Author Kit Whitfield talks about the mid-book blues -- I really like her way of coping with them.

Paperback Writer has written a jaw-dropping amount of information about writing and publishing, covering just about everything--and now she's got it all in one place

And be sure to check out Justine Larbalestier's Writers Are Crazy. I think the title says it all.

When I went to LA we went on one of those celebrity homes tours it was actually really really fun! So that would be my suggestion.

If I were to go to LA, one of the places I'd want to check out would be Chinatown -- I love the atmosphere, food, etc.

I still think the original works the best. :)

Hmm... On your way to LA from Virginia... I haven't made a trip to either coast in five years now (I think?).

Well, in support of the hometown, I'd say that the OKC Bombing Memorial in Downtown OKC is pretty wow (not to mention, the museum is very impacting). Outside of that, I think that Disneyland/California Adventures (right by LA) is amazingly fun and worth the price.

Haha. I need to take another road trip.

Are you going to be in CA early? I'll be in Encinitas doing a signing on 5/24 and then staying in San Diego for the long weekend. Would love to hook up if you have the time, but I'm guessing I'll just miss you (I'm not doing BEA).

My suggestion is to go and see a MLB game! That's what I would do. I'm a baseball buff and this is the perfect time of year to go!

Okay, my suggestion is to check out this site I found...it's a whole bunch of things to do in L.A. Hopefully something fun will come up! Besides that, I don't know b/c sadly, I've never been to L.A. and I'm not sure what you could see on the way there...

But yeah, great list of books you're giving away. I've read Wake and it was amazing, but sadly, I haven't read any of the others..

Hey, I live around LA...not quite in the city but in one of the suburbs around it. The weather in LA right now is super freaky. A week ago it was freezing and now it's over 100 degrees Farenheit. Well, anyway, there's a Getty museum up in Malibu, although that might be a bit out of the way. Also, the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park was just remodeled and it's big and pretty. There's also a whole bunch of theme parks around here--like Six Flags and Disneyland. You should just have fun. Stay air-conditioned(it's really, really hot). Have fun!!!

Whoops, looks like I'm too late for this! But, I just wanted to suggest L.A. things anyway! I reckon you should go on the walk of fame, or maybe the Ivy to go Celeb spotting?! That would be awesome! I wish I could go to Book Expo America as well *sighs* =D Anyhoo, I'm glad you're feeling better!

I actually thought of a better suggestion but thought I'd wait til the contest was over since i already replied. Cat actually suggested it so I'm going to second it. You should definitely go to the J Paul Getty museum. After I thought about it for awhile I think that was my favorite place in LA. All the buildings of the museum are beautiful but also the whole experience and surroundings are just WOW. You take this tram sort of thing up to the museum and the campus is just beautiful. I actually did a speech on the place because it had so much to offer. Hands down, that's what you should do! Here's a link http://www.getty.edu/museum/

I agree with the chinatown suggestion - you can get really good, really authentic chinese food in LA.

Wish I was going to BEA! Have fun!
