A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to the chat yesterday, and if you weren't able to make it, I'll be taking questions at the BookDivas forum all week, so please stop by and let me know what *you'd* like to know about my books!
Also, congrats to the winners of the signed copies of Living Dead Girl--I wrote all your names down after I emailed you, but now I can't find the piece of paper with them on it. Figures! But congrats all the same, and as for this week...
Well, since it's almost Halloween, I decided to go with a supernatural theme this week, and I'm giving away books that feature vampires, faeries, and other otherwordly creatures!
The books I'm giving away are: Vamps by Nancy Collins, The Host by Stephenie Meyer, Lament by Maggie Stiefvater, and Sisters of Misery by Megan Kelley Hall.
For a chance to win one of these four books, just let me know what your LEAST favorite Halloween candy is--mine is Mary Janes, which was all anyone everyone ever seemed to give out when I was a kid. (I figure if everyone tells me the kind of candy they DON'T like, I'll be 100% sure that I get only good stuff to hand out on Halloween!)
Let me know what your LEAST favorite Halloween candy is by midnight this Friday, October 24th, and then I'll draw four names at random, and each of those four people will get a book! Though you can only reply once, you can reply no matter where you live (I will ship books overseas), or if you've won something from me in the past.
And before I go, I have (of course!) some links:
Want to know what a book publicist's life is like? Read this. (Here's a hint: BUSY! Just the length of Amy's workday--oh man!!)
Agent Nathan Bransford wants to know if your book buying habits have changed in the past year -- As usual, he's got tons of comments, and it's interesting to see what other people are saying. (I confess, I'm more likely to give up buying food than books. A life without new books? Shudder!!)
A very thoughtful and well-written post about being "skipped" or why bookstores don't stock every book that's published -- It's a long read, but a very insightful one, and well worth checking out.
Justine Larbalestier on the ever popular subject of writers and money
Tess Gerritsen, who you can always count on for awesome insights into being a best-selling author, talks about how book tours have changed-- she's been writing (and touring!) for a long time, and, as always, has interesting things to say.
Finally, it's no longer Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, but that still doesn't mean you shouldn't take the time to learn more, and see what you can do to help

Gah, I love everything about Halloween even all of the candy, but I don't like chocolate, so I hate it when I get that but I usually just give to my sisters.
Oh, and I have all of the books except for Lament, so I want to be entered for that one.
Oh, and my email is kisstobetray@yahoo.com
I never liked those caramel candies. Mostly it's because I had braces since grade 5, and those things were too embarrassing to try to eat. I tried once.. and I rather not experience it ever again. Haha. I don't have braces anymore, but still, it was enough to traumatize me.
I would love to win any of the books, but since I already have "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer, if I win, I would like one of the other three. Thank you. =)

My least favorite candy of all time is tootsie rolls and I always seem to get a ton of those when I go tick or treating. There is one good thing about them though, I can always trade with my sister for something I like more.

I have never liked those little round butterscotch candies. For some reason everytime I have eaten them I end up with a headache. It's odd.
Btw, I've been dying to read The Host. I have been on a waiting list at my library for too long now. lol.

The chat was fun yesterday! Thanks for answering a few of my questions. =)
I never liked those wax lips/wax fangs (I don't think that they actually qualify as candy).
Btw, I already have The Host by Stephenie Meyer, so if I win, please don't send me that one. Thanks for the contest!

I absolutely hate Almond Joy. Nastiest candy EVER. I'm pretty much a Reeses fan all around.

I loathe squirrel nut zippers (that is the name, right?) They get all stuck in your teeth and are not fun in the least.
The only book I have from that list is The Host.

Candy corn. I hate candy corn. It's disgusting. It's like all the disgusting stuff in the world was taken and put into one form: candy corn.
khyrinthia at gmail dot com.
(And is there any way I can not be entered for Sisters of Misery of The Host? I've those already.)
i do not like candy corn! it is for sure my least favorite hallooween candy and people give it out all the time! it's soo icky my sister loves it though so i just give it to her and at least they don't get thrown away :D
I despise Almond Joys. I've never been a big nut fan. If I win, please don't send me The Host (I already own it).
Thanks =)
I hate candy corn...they look great, but taste terrible to me.
Thanks,

I'm going to be completely honest with you...I don't like candy.
Like...at all!
Whenever I'd eat it I always felt like gagging. So for me, pretty much Halloween was passing out candy.
I just noticed that you always have a lot of contests!
That's really nice of you to do that for your readers.
Anyways....if it's possible to choose a book (if we win), can I PLEASE have "Sisters of Misery"? PLEASE! I have been wanting it for a LONG time!
I understand though if you can't.
Thanks!

The caramels with the chewy circle of white gunk in the middle. Ergh, I feel gross just thinking about that white gunk. Way to ruin a perfectly good caramel, candy makers!

I dislike black licorice.
I'm not sure if anyone even hands that out anymore.
Black licorice tastes absolutely disgusting to me.

Hi!
I just finished BLOOM, which I totally loved.
Ditto everyone who said candy corn. That stuff is gross!
Also, I already have THE HOST.
Thanks soooo much for the contest!

I don't have a least favorite halloween candy because I don't even receive ANY! :( boohoo..no one celebrates halloween here and i always wanted to..
My least favorite is candy corn.

I'm not very fond of Candy Corn. Something about just doesn't work for my taste buds. But it's fun to use to decorate with =)

I hate those weird things that are wrapped in black and orange paper, I can't even figure out what they are! As soon as I get them they go in the trash. eww.
I don't like getting Tootsie Rolls or those strawberry-shaped strawberry candies(those ones for like Senior Citizens).
jacquelinel0@yahoo.com
My least favorite hallowen candy is candy corn. Since, I hate when someone puts them in a bag that's tied becase you don't know if the person's hands where clean when they put the candy corn in.
If I win please don't send me The Host or Sisters of Misery. I have already read them.
Oh, my! Bad Halloween candy is hard to come by, but the worst I've received in the past was those cheap butterscotch hard candies. I tried one once and nearly cringed at the thought of finishing it, so I spit it out.
I want to read Sisters of Misery. I have never read it before, and just looked it up on Barnes and Noble. It sounds really cool!

I'm another candy corn hater. I like the chocolate stuff!
If I were picked, I've read The Host and Sisters of Misery. :)

This was fun to read...I happen to LOVE candy corn, but I HATE almond joys.
My least favorite candy is Baby Ruth's!
And all of the books sound really good!

I really, really don't like:
1. Milk Duds
2. Mike and Ikes
3. Almond Joys (oh, the horror)
Then I give all my friends the nasty candy and steal the good stuff:D
I've wanted to read Sisters of Misery ever since I heard about it. :]
smorglepuffs@yahoo.com
I hate Dots.
They remind me of polka dots; I'm
not too big a fan on polka dots.
Dots taste really funky to me and
get stuck in my teeth.
I'm sort of glad not many people
pass that out anymore.

I don't like those little pumpkin things...I have no idea what they are but they're litte, bright orange kind of pumpkin shaped things that have the bright green stem(?) part on top? I think they're maybe related to candy corn...maybe ;)
and ooh, I don't have Vamps or Lament :D
We were just discussing gross Halloween candy on my Facebook page! I agree with the Mary Janes, but I have to say raisins were always a let down in the trick-or-treat bag. Ew. Raisinets were ok though for some reason! Also butterscoth discs were really gross.
I would love to be entered to win Sisters of Misery.
Least favorite Halloween candy? Pretty much anything with peanuts in it--I hate peanut butter.
Sorry, my email is swimmer1430@aim.com
i dont like milk duds but i know a lot of people who love them!!

Those horrible circus peanut shaped marshmallow thigns! Unbelievably bad!
I just read the wikipedia about them, and found out that shavings and scraps from circus peanuts were what went into Lucky Charms cereal, so now I know why I don't like to eat that either!
Happy Halloween!
Lexi
