Loads of stuff to share today:

Justine Larbalestier continues her January discussion of writing, tackling incorporating backstory and how you know when you're done with something

Diana Peterfreund talks about writing a synopsis, and links to Kathy Carmichael's extensive series of articles and worksheets about it. Kathy also has information on endings, dialogue, point of view--loads of stuff!

Interesting article about book covers

Nathan Brandsford talks about how hard it can be to find success in publishing --it's a very honest blog entry, and got loads of comments. He's followed that up by asking "But what's the hardest past about being a writer?"

Tess Gerritsen has a blunt--but true--tip for would-be authors: Don't be arrogant

Jennifer Lynn Barnes does a rough calculation of how much time people have spent reading and viewing the Twilight series-- "As in, a single person could have sat around doing nothing but reading the Twilight Saga from 8,000 B.C. until now, and that would be on par with the amount of time that has been invested by readers and viewers in this series. And really? The number is probably really a lot bigger than that.

So, what are the odds of your book being made into a movie?

Finally, Living Dead Girl, Stealing Heaven, and Perfect You are all up for consideration in the Children's Choice Book Awards, so if you're a teen and you're so inclined, you can cast a vote for any of those--or any other young adult novel from 2008!
