Tuesday, January 13, 2009

So, after seeing that, I'm guessing you know what this week's contest is about! I've shared mine, so you share yours, and you could win a free book! I'll take comments through midnight this Friday, January 16th, and then I'll pick four people at random and each of those four people will win a book. You can only enter once, but you can enter if you live overseas, or if you've won something from me before.

This week I'm giving away: Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, Cruel Summer by Alyson Noel, Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, and Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston

And! Congrats to last week's winners: Erin, Kaity, Alia, and Liv

Yours sound so much like my Mum, she'll freak out if things ain't on its place perfectly. My pet peeve (if this counts) is people turning the book pages so "violently" that they become crumpled. Because I'm extremely careful with anything that has bindings, I really hate this.

Thanks for the giveaway Elizabeth ^^ please don't enter me for Perfect Chemistry cos I got it already.

Oh my god! I thought I was the only one about the toilet paper thing. I actually go so far as to change it for other people. If I use thier bathrooms and what not. I've got it bad :(

Pet Peeves...good contest topic! I *cannot* stand it when people use books as drink coasters. If the glass sweats, it leaves a big ring right on the cover. Arg!

Sorry, but I have to disagree about the overhand thing. If I hang my toilet paper overhand, it ends up in little spitball wads all over the house. Thanks, Dorsey Dog. So my hour is strictly an underhand house.

My biggest pet peeve is cliffhangers. Books where you have to wait a year to find out who the mysterious killer really is, tv shows that end with "to be continued," voicemail that promises amazing news when we get together for coffee next week - it all drives me crazy. I need to know now!

i HATE when people put toilet paper underhand!
my main pet peeves are tucking in my shirt, wearing a tie, the smell of milk, and people who seem to be in love with themselves.

My pet peeve has to be gum popping. Once or twice that's quite alright but one after the other after another and I'm just ready to burst. I have actually yelled at my friend when she kept popping her gum ;P

Wondrous Strange!!!!! *hyperventilating* I have to get that book!

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people take too long to get on the escalator. If I have to wait behind them for more than 3 seconds, I get really annoyed! Sometimes it's because they can't decide if they're going to get on or they're timing their step. Either way, it freaks me out!

Ditto with the toilet paper! Sometimes at friends' houses, I would turn the toilet paper the right way because I HAVE TO.

:)

Thanks for the contest!

My pet peeve is when people fold over the edges of pages or highlight lines in their books. I'm a bit neurotic about books being in perfect condition. Or when people get packages and delay opening them - even if it's not for me, it kills me to see unopened packages.

And about the toilet paper - it's good to know that I'm not the only one like that.

You know those ridiculously uncomfortable desks they have in classroooms? I HATE it when people put their feet on the basket and then shake their legs. It's like a miniature earthquake attacking while I'm trying to differentiate.

Ha! That's an awesome pet peeve. I think mine is when people use apostrophes to pluralize ("Hey, look at those adorable cat's!")

That is also my boyfriend's biggest pet peeve, except he thinks that toilet paper belongs UNDER hand. And will actually change it when he comes to my house.

My biggest pet peeve, I guess, is when girls go to class wearing tights as pants and pairing them with Ugg boots. TIGHTS AREN'T PANTS! And you should definitely not be wearing tights as pants with a short little t-shirt. Bugs me so much!

I must say that my biggest pet peeve (which I discovered since I started school last year at the University of Maryland) is when people do not hold the door open for you, even though I KNOW they saw you behind them when they opened it. I find it to be so incredibly rude!

Another pet peeve is when people do not know the difference between words like your/you're and there/their. Drives me insane!

My huge pet peeve is when people don't refill the toilet paper. I hate when the person before me leaves just the little scraps left.

this happens to me in my house so much that once i was the last person to use the toilet paper, i left the empty tube on the roll, but wrote on it "do you think this is funny?" then i hid all the toilet paper from the house in my closet.

I thought that'd show them, but... they still do it! uugh!

The TP hanging wrong is a good one.
My biggest pet peeve, and there are many, is the glop of toothpaste left in the sink.

Blogger GreenBeanTeenQueen said...

Oh, that toilet paper thing is a good one. I hate when it's the wrong way and then goes all over the floor because it kept coming down-so gross! I also agree with Brianna about no one replacing the TP, which is also very annoying.
One of my work pet peeves is when adults sit and study in the teen space in my library and then get upset at me when I explain to them that it's the teen space, especially when they've set up in between the poster of Edward and Bella and a stand-up of Legolas!

I don't know if it's my biggest pet peeve, but it's sure one of them: When people use Latin phrases (like per se) and spell them wrong or spell them in English (like per say)...maybe it's the like 6 years of Latin I took but it just drives me crazy :)

My pet peeve (and I myself am sometimes guilty of it) is when people say "yeah". For some reason, it irks me. I mean, how lazy not to just answer with "yes"?

Weird, I know. My students think so too!

Haha...That's one of my pet peeves too, Elizabeth. Whenever I got to my cousin's house and it's underhand, I always have to change it, or it'll get on my nerves.

Well, one of my pet peeves will have to be...when girls talk way too loudly around their crushes, trying to get their attention and what not.
