I'm not sick! Well, okay, I don't want to be sick! (and also, a question for teens)

Thursday, February 05, 2009

I feel awful--headache, sore throat, chills. All the fun stuff! The one good thing is that I don't have a fever, so it can't be the flu. (Although my husband just said, "Yet. You don't have a fever yet." Very reassuring there (!))

Anyway, I just wanted to share a couple of things.

First--there are less than 10 days left to enter the Pulse Spring Fling Contest--so what are you waiting for??? Enter! You could win autographed books, a box full of books, and more!

And I need to announce the winners of last week's contest. Congrats to Jorkie, Katlin, Patricia, and Cecilia!

Before I go back to bed (without a fever, thank you!), I have some links to share:

Author Jay Lake on the power of persistence

The average Facebook user is older than you think--After reading this, plus after reading that teens aren't using twitter (there's a link to an article about that week in last week's entries), and having heard myspace is no longer very popular, I've got a question.

For those of you reading this blog who are under eighteen, what sites do you visit most often? Do you use "social networking" sites like Facebook/MySpace/Twitter? Do you have a blog? How do you keep up with your friends online?

I use facebook nonstop, as well as all of my college friends. But facebook was originally a college network. You had to attend a college to get one. I've never once twittered. And as for facebook, though it is quickly going out, I still go on there for my blog. But since none of my friends use myspace, the opt for facebook, I also post a Live Journal, and a facebook note. Other than AIM Live Journal, Facebook, and sometimes myspace are the only ones I use.

I check my Facebook, but it's more to see what's up with my friends. I don't really update my profile or anything.

I have a MySpace but I never use it.

I guess I've just never gotten the point of Facebook and MySpace. Like, I do, but they're not for me.

I do use GoodReads, though, which a book-centered social networking site. And I have blog and use Twitter (<3 it), which is mostly (besides chat and occasionally email) keep up with friends online.

I use facebook. I have a MySpace but I never check it. Occasionally I will when I realize that I haven't been on it in a while. I have never even heard of Twitter. I also have a blogger account but I never use it except to sign in to comment on your blog right here :)

Feel better, Elizabeth!

And I have to ask this. Am I the Patricia who won your latest contest? It's probably someone else since I signed with 'Patti' in the comments section. But I'll never know until I ask. Is it me? If not, no worries. Until your next contest.

Sorry you're sick :(
Why I haven't entered the Spring fling contest - I live in the UK. It means I have to wait even longer for your books :(
I (and most of the people I know my age) use facebook. Alot. I also have a blog on blogger for book reviews etc but that's more for the international bookish audience than close friends

I use Facebook. I was actually forced to get one by my friends. It's actually really fun. I get to know more about my classmates than I would ever from talking to them. And they learn more about me.
I've also found friends that I haven't seen since elementary. We did a lot of catching up. I talk with friends that I don't have any classes at school with through Facebook too. It helps that there is usually one or two people on so I can ask them what our homework was.

I have a LiveJournal that I use as a diary and a blog. I like being able to choose who can see what I say. I also have a Blogspot. I use that to keep up with all of the authors and reviewers that I follow.

I sometimes go on meebo.com, since you can log onto several accounts in one to chat. =)

I read an article about Twitter. Teens don't use it that much because they can use Facebook or Myspace to update their status. And Twitter is only updating their status.

I'm surprised to hear that about myspace, facebook, and twitter. I have all three, and I'm addicted to all three of them. A lot of my friends from school have both MySpace's and Facebook's, though I prefer MySpace -- it's a lot easier to use, in my opinion. Out of the three, I would say that I'm more addicted to Twitter. I don't know why, but it's just really addicting.

I also have a blog that I work on almost nonstop. :p I love it because I can meet a lot of new people who have the same interests as me.

Besides MySpace and Facebook, I also talk to friends online on MSN.

I visit Facebook daily, perez hilton and online shopping sites and many others. too many to list!

I do use FB, no myspace and frankly, I think Twitter is stupid. I have a blog and that is one way I keep up with my friends in addition to FB and online chatting.

I'm actually one of the few people left under 18 who don't have a facebook or myspace.
I do have aim, and email, and also a blog for a while, but most of the people at my school have either a myspace or facebook. In our neck of the woods, its not going out of style at all.
