The Rejecter on the never-ending commercial vs. literary go-round

Yes, everyone has linked to this but you know what? Worth reading again. A Dirty Little Secret: Self-Censorship

Sara Zarr on self-doubt--I especially like her thoughts on "comparison disease."

Allison Winn Scotch writes about agents: how do you know if you have a bad manuscript or a bad agent?, what to do when you feel like your agent doesn't believe in you, and leaving an agent -- the last post, in particular, is very good.

Kristin Nelson on co-op, or yes, there is a reason certain books are on display in your local bookstore and yes, the publisher has to pay for it. (most of the time.)

Do you have to know someone in order to get published?

Guess what, fans of The Wire and The Office? Stringer Bell is coming to Dunder Mifflin! (All right, Stringer isn't, but Idris Elba is. Woot!)

Finally, Living Dead Girl has made the 2009 Amelia Bloomer List --the list is compiled by the Feminist Task Force of the American Library Association, and is made up of books that celebrate the strengths of girls and women. This is a real honor, and I'm grateful to every librarian who has supported Living Dead Girl and to all the teens who have written to me about it. Please check out the list and read what the project is about.

Oh my goodness, I'm so excited that Stringer Bell will be on The Office! I wonder if he'll use his actual British accent.
