Cookie recipe into cake update: tried it in a round eight inch cake tin. Turned out amazing! So, so yummy. Husband reports it tastes like salted caramels, and it does have nice sweet yet slightly salty thing going on. (which I love!)

Also!!

My agent also found an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You and sent it to me--and I'd like to send it to one of you! Let's see...oh! I know!

For your chance to win it, leave a comment telling me why you'd like an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You--and the comment has to use *every* letter in the alphabet. (I know, I'm positively fiendish today!!) I'll take comments through tomorrow at midnight EST, May 12th, and then I'll pick the comment I like best (and don't forget, you have to use every letter!) and send that person the ARC. (You can enter if you live overseas and/or if you've won something from me before.)

Oh, that's tricky!

I would be absolutely thrilled to win a copy. I spent every school day this spring opening boxes hoping to find "Something, Maybe" when it first came out (it finally arrived the week it was released. . .happy day! It was kind of liking winning on a quiz show or something).

Zounds! A fiendish requirement indeed (though it occurs to me that you could also have required the comment to be in rhyme, or in haiku form, which would have been much more conducive to head-exploding happening; this seems more doable). I love books in letter format, and about friendships (which sounds like an absurd thing to say, but oh-so-many books treat friendships as incidental and/or perfect and therefore only background noise to romance rather than complex relationships in their own right), and Amy and Julia are among my favourite names (also the names of two best friends in Christopher Pike's 'Witch', which also has a dead Julia and a surviving Amy, although that book is less about a return to normality after tragic events and more about the tragic events as they unfold, and also there are witches, which I am guessing Love You Hate You Miss You does not have based on your previous books). :)

Oooh! My inane ramblings have inadvertently used up all the letters, I do believe. Looking forward to reading the book at some point in 2009 anyway, regardless of how comment-picking goes. Best of luck with it!

I could be incredibly random in my comment, like Claire up there (that totally would have worked if you did require rhyme for this comment) but I'd like so simply point out the obvious.

You, my dear, are an absolutely amazing author. I have read (and own) all of your other books, and I absolutely adore them. The only issue I have (as mentioned in my review of Something, Maybe, here: http://bookloverreviews.blogspot.com/2009/04/something-maybe-by-elizabeth-scott.html) is that they all seem to be very similar in their lighthearted manner. Hearing this, Amy commented and said that it was a definite change, which just makes me that much more excited to read it.

So, that, in a nutshell, is why I really want to read Love You Hate You Miss You :)

I love the vblog. It's so surprising to learn that writing light novels is much harder than dark serious ones and that you're a fan of Britney Spears! Oh and, congrats on the baking ^^

Well, I'd love to win an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss you because I'm practically crazy about it! On looking at the title and the cover I thought it was going to be about love, depressing love - the kind that I'm extremely into. But later when I found out that the story revolved around friendship and troubles in life, I was even more and more intrigued. There's something nostalgic and sorrowful about the book that I cannot explain. I just know that I'm going to love it a lot, especially if I get to read it together with my bestfriend. Besides, I think Amy and Julia would love to have a trip to Vietnam where the book will enjoy the thrill of being the only copy in the country ^^

The Real, True Story about Why I Want an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You
by Summer

Admittedly, it was the wrong decision, taking that left turn onto the service road that twisted through the graveyard. But traffic was unbearable and I just had to get home and check my Google Reader.

"Constantly updated," I told my friends just before I left happy hour. "Definitely, I'm subscribed to 130 blogs and I have to see if Elizabeth Scott updated! Eat without me, I'm going to go home."

For a moment I thought it was just an illusion, a blog-deprived hallucination but then it came closer and I pumped my breaks just before I hit it with my car. Growls were all I heard at first, snapping jaws all around me. Hot sunlight seeped through the windows, closed tight, but that didn't stop me shivering from the cold breeze that began to weave itself around me.

Impossible, it was just impossible, but there I was staring out of the window at this dog with the blood red eyes, blinking in time to the unrelenting pounding rhythm of my own heart.

Just like that I was out of the car, on the ground, with the dog's paws bearing down on my stomach, his face right over mine. Kids on the other side of the country probably heard me scream. Large drops of saliva dripped on my face and merged with my tears. Memories marched in front of my eyes, my life as I'd known it, gone forever in this one instant. Nobody was around, nobody could save me.

"Obey!" the dog said. "Provide your name with haste!"

Quickly, I stammered out my name, taking no time to wonder how in the world this devil dog could talk.

"Relish this moment, your last moment of life," the dog said. "Summer, you have trespassed on sacred ground and that is a transgression I cannot ignore."

"That was an accident, I swear, an accident!" I said. "Usually, I just take Forbes Avenue but I had to get home so I could check if Elizabeth Scott had updated her blog!"

Viciously, the dog opened his jaws, but then, strangely, he stopped.

"Who is this of whom you speak, Elizabeth Scott, the author of Something, Maybe?"

"Xerically!" I babbled, so scared that I was no longer able to make sense, but the dog took that as a yes.

"You will get me Elizabeth Scott's next book, the one called Love You Hate You Miss You, within 72 hours and I will spare your life for I am a big fan," the dog said.

"Zipper, uh, your claw is stuck in my zipper," I said, looking down at my pants as the dog got off me which were also wet but not with dog spit. We stared at each other, with the headstones all around us, sacred ground.

"Mister Dog," I said, hands shaking but voice steady. "It would be my honor to get you that book."

But I had no idea how to do it! And I was totally freaking out. Now you're holding this contest and it's like fate! So, I hope you understand how much I really really really REALLY need this book. I'm not into dying just because I wanted to rush home and read your blog. Thanks!

Words my mother taught me: "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."

Like a quick brown fox (no lazy dog, I) I jumped at the chance to enter this contest, eager to read the book myself, and eager to pass it over to my librarian (that is, the librarian at my local library) for her reading pleasure.

man this is going to be hard...

I would love to have a copy of 'love you hate you miss you' for many reasons. One reason is because you are a phenomenal writer, and because i know it will be just wonderful. And you always have wonderful character names, like Kate and Dani. What starts with x? Um...xylophone. And quiz. That has q and z. I think that's all of them.

Hello! Thanks for answering my question (and, you know, 9 others)

Anyway, I would like to win a ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You for many, many reasons. One being that I've read your other books (which are extraordinary), so I obviously want to read this one to. I mean, other whys I wouldn't be on the website, let alone typing this, right?

Another is that I never have enough money to buy books (in hard cover anyway. And my local book store is a major rip off. Although I actually did buy Something Maybe) So, I get them at the library. And sadly, my town library is really, really small. So, that along with the recent money cuts, makes it pretty hard to get new books. Or any books for that matter. It comes down to that I want to read this book ASAP, not have to wait a year.

Lastly, Love You Hate You Miss You has a totally perfect/awesome/unique/fabulous title. This alone makes me want get the books and wizz (is this a word? Spell check doesn't think so) through it in record speed.

Also, I've never had a advanced readers copy, and it's like my dream to get one (One of my dreams anyways. I swear, I am not so sad for that to be my only goal in life). I mean, don't you want to help make a girls dream come true?

And, that my friend, is why I want an ARC, using every letter of the alphabet in my explanation (so proud!).The End.

First of all, the cover is just exquisite. I think I'd be able to relate with Amy and her situation with her parents and having to see a shrink. It sounds like a really fun mystery but also something people can relate to. Plus, if i don't have anything to read this summer I'll go crazy!

Hehe your little challenge sounds fun! It would've been really awesome of you also had to make it a poem or something like that, so that's what I'm doing! :D

Love You Hate You Miss You
The title alone
Holds my curiosity of the story.
Exhausted of average romance novels,
That all end too typically.
But your book--
A mere Amazon summary quenches my thirst,
For an amazing plot. An amazing piece of writing. An amazing book.
I am longing for this journey,
Along the storyline
Of Amy's heartbreaking letters.

All that, and also the fact that I absolutely adored the other novels you've written! (:

LOVE this vlog! You had some great questions to asked to you too! And I laughed out loud to your HELL NO! It took me a very long time to tell people that I wrote, and even start showing people my stuff. Since I'm a lazy writer (a habit I hope to break), I quit doing that because people ask me to see more. Which you think might give me more umph to write, but it doesn't. Britney Spears? LOVE IT! I use to be a closet fan as well, but I heart her music and even her crazy self.

Thanks so much for the vlog Elizabeth! It was way fun! (I love Britney in the car too!)

Here's my entry for the ARC giveaway.

A cauldron of complex emotions,
Raw, intense, real,
Crafted with quiet integrity,
Justifiably kindles my appetite
For this Elizabeth Scott novel.

(It sounded much better in my head ... I swear!)

I would like to win a copy of Love You, Hate You, Miss You because a new book would make my horrible start to a summer a little bit better. I am a junior in grad school, which interestingly enough, in this school you are a junior your first year. I had to pull out of school a week early and take all incompletes because my grandfather is in the hospital and I had to go back home to help out my family. So now when I get home I have to finish the semester worth of finals, quizzes, and research papers then start a new summer semester, all while missing my fun vacation. Don't you think a new book would be a bit of excitement in my life?

Err.. this will be quite hard... Well, I'd like an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You just because I love your books and I'm sure I'm gonna love this one too! Not to mention the fact that I LOVE the cover:) Also, having this book will help make my quest for reading every Elizabeth Scott book a step further to success!
I seem to be missing 1 letter, X!! waaa! I hope you consider though. Actually, I didn't need to say everything I said above because it can be said in one simple sentence. I love your books and it would be amazing if I get one from the author herself!

I would love to win an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You because not only have I read your other novels but I loved them. I’m very excited for this release and think it will be great. The plot involving Amy and Julia sounds like something teenagers can relate to and although I, personally, have not gone through what Amy has, I think I can still learn from it. I hope you don’t quit writing and I hope you know that you can affect people, you have definitely affected me. You understand the teenage mind and although I haven’t found love yet I can related to all of your characters. I can relate to Hannah by being sarcastic. I relate to Lauren because sometimes I find it easier to keep opinions to myself rather than trying to state them out loud. Kate’s parents are separated while mine went through a divorce. Danielle doesn’t really get to have friends and my family has moved so much that I don’t make many either. Alice was kidnapped and I have never been through that but I can relate to her because sometimes it is hard to speak up and be heard. I know that the release date isn’t that far away but I would be very happy, possibly even zany, if I could get it before then. I hope you don’t quit writing and I hope you know that you can affect people, you have definitely affected me. Thank you for having this contest and your xenodochy (hospitality) is awesome. You seem like a really nice person and all the best to you. :)

I would like to win an ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You because the story intruges me because I've recently lost my aunt Elizabeth and I did write letters to her for a little while. But I didn't do it on a therapit's order. She was my best friend and one day she just wasn't there for me to talk to anymore. On a random note, I'm making a quiz for your books. Have an xtra special day. There there's all the letters.

Wow ... well there are so many from you to already pick from I might as well throw in mine too ... I just started to read your book and Oh My Gosh, they just seem to pull me in. I don't usually have time to read but with your books I make time I bring them on vacation with me, I read them to and from my class my friends say I your books will be the death of my because I am going to wall into something or trip on something but I just tell them to be quiet. They can't understand how much your books mean to me I am reading Prefect You for a third time now that book I might say has seen better times but each mark show just how much I love that book.

I would be just ecstatic to get the ARC of Love You Hate You Miss You. But I will have to wait and see what happens., maybe good maybe bad. Oh! But I can wish.
Zonic ...! hopefully I didn't jinx myself.

Well got to go ...
You Loyal Reader,
Desiree

Note: I left an entry earlier on and was reading through it now and noticed I had repeated a line "I hope you don’t quit writing and I hope you know that you can affect people, you have definitely affected me." So I am sorry and if I could edit I would but I can't so I thought I should let you know that I didn't mean to repeat it.
