win an ARC of Beautiful Creatures AND The Hollow!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

This week, I'm giving away an ARC of Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl AND The Hollow by Jessica Verday. (That's over 1100 pages of reading joy!!!)

I was talking to my husband about this week's contest last night and he said, "Well, you know what it has to be about, right?"

I shook my head, and he said, "Remember last year? The contest I kept wanting updates on?"

And then I remembered and so, for my husband--and also because it is a lot of fun--this week's contest is:

Your *least* favorite Halloween candy!*

For your chance to win both books, all you have to do is tell me your least favorite Halloween candy (mine is, and will always be, Mary Janes, and my husband's is Boston Baked Beans) by midnight EST this Friday, October 16th, and then I'll pick one name at random and that person will get both books.

So start telling me about the Halloween candy that makes you go "Ugh, couldn't you have just given me pennies instead?"

*I know it's a little early for Halloween, but it's never too early to talk candy. Plus, my husband was so cute--he's convinced that someone else out there must hate Boston Baked Beans as much as he does.

My least favorite Halloween candy is Candy Corn.
I LOVE everything about candy corn, except, that it makes me ill. I'm a vegetarian because I am allergic to all meat products. Candy Corn is made with gelatin, which is made with meat product. I have a love/hate relationship with Candy Corn.
I hate that I love it, because sometimes I'll just eat it and risk being sick.

I HATE candy corn as well. Super disgusting, and when I was young enough to go trick-or-treating, I got it so many times. ICK.

And though it's not candy, what's up with the bags of potato chips? I hated getting those while trick-or-treating as well.

I hated it when people gave raisins. I mean, seriously? You can be healthy all the rest of the year, do you NEED to spoil some kid's candy dreams by giving out raisins? I would have to say that raisins for Halloween are despicable. Yes, descipable! =b

I also really got sick of Rockets... I think they're called Smarties in the States (which is something completely different in Canada).

Alright, I'm usually not one to conform, but I absolutely loathe candy corn. There is nothing great about it. The texture, the taste, the colors -- all disgusting. I'd much rather have myself some CHOCOLATE! Oh, and what's up with people giving out fruit? Come on.

Those peanut butter thingies! You know the ones that come in the orange and black wax paper? I love peanut butter but, historically, those candies always freaked me out and were the first thing I threw away from every Halloween haul.

My least favorite Halloween candy would have to be Dots. My box always seemed to have a disproportionate amount of black dots, the kind I hate the most. Thankfully, they're my dad's favorite, so they never get wasted!

Candy corn is hideous - they are like jelly beans at Easter. Cheap and icky. Both are adorable, colorful, and are great for crafts, decorations, etc. but are just appalling as food. I hate those hard, round pieces of gum, too - they taste old and hurt your teeth.

Well I've only done one US Halloween so I'm not up on my candy but anything which involves peanut butter and chocolate is just plain wrong!

my least favorite candy would have to be candy corn or anything with nuts. I just can't handle the sickly sweetness of candy corn... it stares at you from the shelf at the store begging you to buy it yet you know if you do you'll regret it later.

Everyone hates Candy Corn apparently...I guess I'm the only person who does like it.
So here's a different answer for you: I absolutely hate with a burning passion Good and Plenty. They are the sickest candy ever. Black licorice is just plain NASTY. Another thing I can't stand is Reeses Pieces. Ew!! A gross copy cat version of M&Ms. It puts yummy M&Ms to shame. :(

OMG this is the perfect contest. Lol. And my least favorite Halloween candy is Bit O Honey. I always got tons of that when I went trick-or-treating and I always ended up giving it to my dad. I just hated it and I don't really know why. =]

And candy corn is the best! I love it!

I'm going to have to say that I HATE black licorice...it's disgusting! And I definitely agree about the baked beans, too. I hate those even though I've only eaten...(okay, actually all I did was lick) one in my entire life!

Thanks for the contest.

Tootsie Rolls! I hate, hate, hate tootsie rolls (and tootsie pops). Every Halloween about half of my haul was full of tootsie rolls. No one in my family likes them either so I would always take them all to school the next day and trade for some good candy. Luckily I had friends who like them, but I just think that they're gross!

Wow, I like candy corn. I'm surprised that so many people don't like it! My mom goes nuts when she sees that it's in the stores. She always buys a bag for herself to munch on for a few days.

As usual, awesome contest!

Gum. I hate getting gum for Halloween. Everyone buys their candy early, and the gum gets hard and stale. The gum always loses it's flavor after about 30 seconds. Its just gross. Why would any kid want it? And most mothers don't allow their kids to have it. It's a lose when you have half a pillow case filled with gum you can't eat. Not something I would want for Halloween.

That being said, I hate when people give all the cheap little gross chocolate balls and hard candy. You know the type, the ones that have tin foil around them that looks like an eyeball.
