I'm thankful for YOU!

Monday, November 23, 2009

I've decided to give away another Priority Mail box full of books. Why? Well, because I've been thinking about how supportive all of you have been this year and I just want to say thank you! (Plus, you know, I do like giving away books!)

Here's the deal. There are twelve--yes, 12--ARCs in this box and you could win them all!

I'm not listing the books in the box--it's a surprise!--but I will say that in order for you to win, all you have to do is tell me what *you're* thankful for this year.

Tell me what you're thankful for by midnight EST this Wednesday, November 25th--and then I'll pick one name at random and that person will win the box of books! (Please note that this contest is only open to US residents)

I am thankful for Texas. Yes, I'm thankful for a state. We used to live in California, but moved to Texas last year. I'm thankful for this for a lot of reasons.
1. Being surrounded by all this bbq'ing made me want to become a vegetarian. I haven't had meat in over 10 months and many of my health problems have dissipated. (Turns out I'm allergic to meat.)
2. My parents can breathe. It's hard to live in California, especially with a stay-at-home mom, a dad that owns his own home business, and two kids in private school. My parents both got jobs at the first companies they interviewed with, and though we aren't rich and don't own a house, my parents' stress levels have decreased significantly.
3. We are moving to a new apartment on December 22 that is walking distance from my mom's work. I am thankful for this because my mom was recently in a car accident and now gets panic attacks while driving. And now, she doesn't have to drive anywhere!

I'm thankful for so much this year, but those are the ones in the forefront of my mind.

This year has been a very tough year. My grandfather suffered tons of strokes, and my mother now lives with him to take care of him. My father has MS and right now I'm staying with him because he is wheelchair bound and needs help around the house. While it's been stressful-wanna-pull-your-hair-out type of year, it also made me realize I am SO beyond a doubt thankful that I have such a loving and caring family that will do anything for one another no matter what.

I’ m grateful for so much and so many people this year, but being honest I’d have to say I’m mostly thankful for my boyfriend of three and a half months. Technically he’s my first love and so much has happened over the past few months that I know I’d not have made through without him. Somehow he is able to put up with my craziness and after knowing all my inner secrets and weird quirks still finds me beautiful. For that I’ll always be grateful. I love him very much and enjoy every moment we spend together. I know I sound silly and clichéd, but I’m totally okay with that. =)
