playlist help needed!
Wednesday, December 09, 2009
I'm supposed to create a playlist that "reflects my writing and books," but here's the thing--I don't listen to music when I write! So I have no idea what reflects my books or writing except silence which is, well, not super conducive to a playlist.
So, I thought of you, awesome blog readers! Can you help me out and let me know what song or songs make you think of my books?
Also, I do have a few links to share:
The Rejectionist has some thoughts about writing that came after watching Terminator: Salvation -- it sound random (and okay, it is, but the advice? Fab!)
Agent and future author Nathan Bransford on pen names
Agent Jessica Faust points out that it's not just authors who have to "brand" themselves
Agent Kirstin Nelson answers reader questions
Can't wait for your playlist suggestions!!

I really like Joshua Radin-he's good to listen to when you need a soft romantic song. Also Band of Horses is good. I listen to a lot of soundtracks if I listen to music when I read-my favorites are 500 Days of Summer and Wicker Park.
I don't think I can pick any one song that reflects all of your books as a whole... I've only read about half of them but they are all very different. So, I'll just pick one book...When reading the Unwritten Rule (for the 2nd time)I had a playlist that I tailored for the book and listened to. *scampers on over to see playlist*
-'You Belong To Me' by Taylor Swift
-'Why Can't I' by Liz Phair
-'Tangled Up In Me' by Skye Sweetnam
-'Such Great Heights' by The Postal Service
-'I Know I Know I Know' by Tegan and Sara
-'Wonderwall' by Oasis
-'Edge Of The Ocean' by Ivy
-'The Winner Is' from the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack
-'Crazy For This Girl' by Evan and Jaron
-'What Sarah Said' by Death Cab For Cutie (mostly just b/c of the name)
-'Blue Eyes' by Cary Brothers
and a bunch of Muse, Beatles, Coldplay, and Moby.
: ) I hope that it gave you a few ideas!
for Perfect You:"hate that i love you" by neyo and rihana
for Something,Maybe:"falling over me"by demi lovato
Glad to help!:)
I think anything by Muse and Ray LaMontagne is inspiring. :)
Thanks so much for the playlist suggestions--please keep them coming!!
Here are my favorites:
"Falling Slowly" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova is pretty good.
"Two is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift-- the best love song ever!!
And I like A Fine Frenzy, Adele, and Florence and the Machine-- great bands for those rainy day writings.
For Living Dead Girl:
"Skinny Mean Man" by Say Anything (the beginning is freaky, but I think it really fits)
I think for Perfect You "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World is a good song.
Other good songs are:
"Hallelujah" by Paramore
"Fall" by Something Corporate
"Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional
"Shine On" by The Kooks
"Fidelity" by Regina Spektor
"Empty Days" by Augustana
