even MORE prizes added to the Spread The Word About The Unwritten Rule contest!

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Well, the prizes have been upped AGAIN in the Spread The Word About The Unwritten Rule contest -- the winner now not only gets her/his name in the acknowledgments of my 2011 Pulse book and a phone call but now also gets 35 young adult novels! (That's right, an extra ten shiny new hardcovers have been added...)

To sum up: your name in a book, a phone call, AND 35 books??? There's only six days left to enter this contest, so what are you waiting for? Head over here, read the rules, and enter!

And don't forget, I'm looking to be blown away! This is the largest contest I've ever run and the winner is going to be the person who does something that makes me say WOW!

And now, today's links:

How millennial are you?

In addition to the quiz above, the Pew Research Center has complied a long and utterly fascinating report about the millennial generation

Agent and author Nathan Bransford wants to know where you go for inspiration -- With well over 100 comments, if you're looking for inspiration, there might be something there that makes you think "Oh! Hey! I could do that and get inspired!"

Editorial Ass on being scooped, or what to do when a book sells that sounds just like your work-in-progress--"At the end of the day, no idea is unique. There are too many people in the world. So hold the bar high in terms of the execution you expect from yourself. And may the best book win."

Agent Jessica Faust answers reader questions

Ever wonder why agents and editors use form rejection letters? This is a great little essay that talks about why

Agent Rachelle Gardner on why agents have submission guidelines

Over at Storytellers Unplugged, How To Start A Novel

Finally, agent Janet Reid on why she rejected fifty queries in a hour and NYT best-selling author Lynn Viehl picks up on some of Janet's reasons and offers some thoughts on how writers can see if their query may get rejected by using what Janet says She also offers writing advice and links about querying as well.
