A week? For me? WOW!!!!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

I can't believe how time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was in Texas (amazing! and a huge XOXO to everyone in Houston, Dallas, and Austin for making me feel so welcome--I want to be adopted by Texas!) but of course, I wasn't and Between Here and Forever comes out in less than a month!!

First, a few quick updates:

--Coolest thing EVER: The Secret Life of an Avid Reader is having an Elizabeth Scott Week! A week! For me! It starts on May 18th and runs through the release date of Between Here and Forever on May 24th. There's a bunch of blogs participating, and if you want to be part of it, please sign up--I've already promised a complete set of my books (including the ones coming out this year) and if another ten blogs sign up, I'll knock it up to THREE sets!

Elizabeth Scott Book Week

--Rumor has it that the first 100 pages of Between Here and Forever are going to be available for public viewing--I know!!--and as soon as I have a link, I'll share it!

--It's also true that I came home from Texas, went to the doctor the morning after I came back to have a mole removed--and then spend three hours sitting in the office because I had a reaction to the shot they gave me to numb the area where they cut the mole out (Yes, I know--only me!! I'm starting to think I need to wear a sign when I go into a doctor's office: "Yes, you will probably not know what's wrong with me and take eight million things of blood to figure out what I have. Also, I am allergic to everything, including probably the paper gown you are going to ask me to wear.") (Knock on wood for that one-so far, no reaction to paper gowns...yet :-)

--For all of you doing reports on me, yes, I was born in 1972. (And yes, I AM that old! :-)

--Finally, I will be trying to update more regularly because I miss sharing links with you, and of course, giving away books!*

--LOL commenters, be sure to check your email (including your spam folder, sigh) for a message, and fb people who commented, DM your info

*To kick things off, how about an ARC of Meg Cabot's Abandon? I've got two to give away and for your chance to win, just leave a comment telling me what sort of links you'd like to me share (more about writing? more about publishing? more about food?) by this Friday, April 29th at midnight EST--and I'll pick the two comments I like best and each of those people will get an ARC of Abandon! (And yes, this contest IS open to everyone--so international readers, chime in!)

**And one last thing--the people at the lovely A Real Bookstore have some signed copies of The Unwritten Rule--and if you want your copy before the cover changes (more on that soon!) you'll want to head here asap: http://arealbookstore.com/elizabethscott

I love it when you post links with writing tips! Publishing news is important, but more recently it's been making me kind of sad what with all the closing bookstores and books that are only published electronically. So less of that, unless it's GOOD news!

So jealous that you got to spend time in nice warm Texas!

I am one of the blogs hosting the Elizabeth Scott Week and can I just say how super excited I am for it??!! Also - HUGE thank you for donating a set of your books! That is very sweet of you.

I met you in Houston, TX at the Teen Book Con. I'm sure you don't remember since there were quite a few people there! However you signed a few of my books and we discussed the blog post that Anna from Anna Reads made about "the nice guys in YA lit" :-) if that rings a bell?? Loved meeting you! and please come back to Texas anytime!!!

I already have Abandon, so you don't need to enter me in the contest. Just wanted to say congrats on your own week, boo on allergies, and Texas would love to adopt you! (and I love reading blog posts with writing tips/experiences)

It was great listening to your panel at the Teen Book Con and getting to meet you (you were the only author that gave me a hug--fan for life now ;). I just finished reading Perfect You over the weekend and I adored it. You, Stephanie Perkins, and Lindsey Leavitt are seriously pulling me onto team Contemporary YA.

And yes, that story above about Ginger made me squeal a little when she called me to tell me about it. Okay, A LOT.

I love it when we hear authors talking about writing, but I have to admit, I'm just a fan of the ramblings. Is that so bad?

Thanks for the opportunity!

Food links are always the best because who doesn't love food! I'm always looking for new ideas when it comes to food because I'll be attending culinary school in the fall. All of your other links are awesome as well, because I think it's very cool how you share writing tips with your fans, which is truly inspiring! Sorry to ramble on but love your blog and of course all of your fab books!

I like writing tips too, but I also enjoy hearing about what books you've read and enjoy (when you have time, of course! I realize writing such great books takes a lot of time).
We would totally love to adopt you here in Texas. I'm so glad to hear we treated you right! Please come back often!
I participated in your blog tour for GRACE, and I've signed up to post during your week at SECRET LIFE too. Love your books!

I always love links about new YA books that you loved reading. I love to read!

You could also post links to your favorite myths or legends if you like mythology!

Food is good too, especially Italian food!

I think you should combine food posts with writing tips! For example, what kind of food to eat when writing a sad scene, love scene, scary scene...

I think (and this is about as helpful as a small frog able to perform backflips on demand in return for chocolate [although I think that would be pretty special]) that just more, would suffice. MORE BLOG POSTS PLEASE :)

I hate how I missed you in Texas. One of my all-time favorite authors, only about 100 miles and 2 hours away... AUGHHH. Come back soon.

I always always enjoy your links about food, whether it's recipes or just ideas and whatnot.

And for entertainment, maybe you can start putting up funny youtube videos that you come across, writing related or not? Just a thought. I'm sure your sense of humor would be appreciated by many of us!

I really want to know more about what inspires you, how you pick between the crappy ideas and the good ideas, how your stories change from where they started to where they end up when you're ready to write them, how your characters grow in your head and how they change. What's your actual writing and creative process like?

I'd like to see more links about the publishing process, hopefully from authors themselves. Such as their best tips for publishing or something like that.

I would also, of course, love to hear more about your upcoming novels :) So glad you're back to posting!

I want posts about writing with personal touches woven in. Like, I learned how to write one my characters so well because I worked as a kiosk specialist selling vitamins...that sort of thing.
