okay, spring it's WAR (and free books!)

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Is it just me, or is this spring (although it seems weird to call it that when daily temps are in the 90s!!!) the worst in terms of pollen?

I seriously can't go outside without seeing it everywhere. It's totally coated my car and, I suspect, that if I was willing (and able) to stand outside for fifteen minutes, it would coat me too.

Is anyone else in the same boat as me? (And by boat, I mean extra antihistamine to the point where you have to take it at night so you won't spend your days staring, dazed, at nothing)

Also, I've got some books to give away. I just tried to take a photo of all of them, but let's just say holding three books while facing a computer camera isn't my strong suit and leave it at that. (Please??)

So, the three books I'm giving away all have very striking covers, the kind that make you stop and say "Wait, what???"

--an ARC of Starters by Lissa Price

My favorite is Divergent, which I read before I heard anything about it. Another one I thought was good was Will Grayson, Will Grayson, which was just so different.

Favorite cover right now has to be The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. It is absolutely gorgeous, and mysterious. & Then you read it, and the story is amazing (one of my favorites) too.

I like the cover of TWENTY BOY SUMMER by Sarah Ockler. I love sea glass and the way she worked it into a heart and the story was great.

I actually like all of Sarah Dessen's new covers - they are so fresh and cutesy - and I like that they're all kinda the same so great as a set.

I love the cover of Robin LaFevers' Grave Mercy. Especially the quote across the top that says Why be the sheep when you can be the wolf. I hope they don't change it for the paperback edition.

Thanks for the giveaway!

totally with you on the allergies! My hubby's face starts swelling if he doesn't take his claritin first thing everyday :-/

The most striking YA cover I have seen recently has to be to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It is to eerie and perfectly sets up the story. I especially love that when you first look at it, it doesn't seem all that special bu then it starts to really haunt you...

I love the cover of Sweetly by Jackson Pearce. The creepy trees are evocative of the story, the purple is unusual and distinctive for YA and it's an excellent match to Sisters Red. It lets the reader imagine so much about what the story is going to be.

Hey! Good to see you blogging again. I hope everythings better now.

My favorite recent cover is the one for Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin. It really stands out from other YA books because the cover is pretty creepy and very mysterious... I saw it on goodreads and read the description and am now really exicited for it to be released!

Yay, you're blogging! And having a great giveaway, thanks!! Some of the covers I've loved lately are Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Sweetly. Both were such incredible covers, but sadly I didn't feel that the books held up to that awesomeness.
